Oral surgery includes treatment of injuries, diseases and defects related to the teeth, gums, jaw, head, or face.
It is any procedure that involves cutting into or removing tissue from the mouth such as extracting a tooth or placing a dental implant.
Most oral surgery procedures are common and are completed on an outpatient basis by a general dentist at our office. If your case is outside of their normal practice, they may refer you to an oral surgeon.
For some infants, children and adults the small piece of tissue that connects their cheeks, tongue or lips to their gums can be overly tight leading to problems with speech, eating or in the case of infants nursing. A frenectomy can help to improve the natural movement of the mouth to help correct these issues.
