Our Edmonton dentists use CEREC technology to create custom tooth restorations and fix damaged teeth in one appointment.
Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) is a computer-aided system for taking impressions quickly to generate a custom-fitted dental restoration, like a dental crown, in one visit.
CEREC consists of three parts:
Your dentist will begin by using an intraoral camera to photograph your teeth and bite.
Using the photos from your mouth, your dentist works with CEREC software to construct a digital model of your tooth restoration and sends it electronically to the milling machine.
The milling machine carves your restoration out of colour-matching ceramic block material in less than 15 minutes.
Next, your dentist polishes, paints and glazes your new tooth piece, then adheres it in your mouth to fix your damaged tooth.
With CEREC, there is no need for your dentist to place temporary crowns, and there are no messy impressions taken in your mouth. Your dentist is able to build, create and place ceramic restorations while you're sitting in the dental chair.
Now, instead of having to schedule multiple appointments to place a dental crown, you can have it done in a single visit.
