Digital X-ray is another part of dentistry that is very exciting for the doctor.  Not only can the image be enlarged and sharpened for better diagnosis, but now it is much easier for the patient to see what is going on in their mouth so they can make fully informed treatment decisions.

Measurements can be made on these x-rays making procedures such as root canals easier and faster.  These x-rays can be sent electronically to other doctors or patients for consultation purposes.  Many times, Dr. Heit has sent an x-ray to another doctor and been able to discuss the case on the telephone while both doctors are viewing the image.  This is a fast and effective way to get a better diagnosis.

The other beautiful part about digital x-ray is that it is only 10% the radiation dose of regular dental x-rays.  Regular dental x-rays are very low dose radiation anyway but it is sure nice to be able to reduce that dose even more.
