ADDX is a test that is done when gum diease just doesn't stabilize.  The primary treatment of gum disease is scaling and root planing, but what about those deep areas that just do not heal?

ADDX  tests the deep pockets in those areas for bacteria present that are preventing the healing prodess.  The results will provide Dr. Heit with the information she needs to prescribe the specific antibiotic that will obliterate that specific bacteria and allow healing to finally take place.

It is used in conjunction with proper assessment, treatment and maintenance of the periodontal status.  Ongoing gum health is a basic and vital part of dentistry that should never be ignored.
