Training & Expertise
Dr Heit graduated with honours from dentistry at the University of Alberta in 1996. Before that, she was a nurse for 10 years. Dr Heit's focus is your whole health and wellness.
Dr. Heit is president of the M.A.S.C.C.P. (Multidisciplinary Association for the Study of Cranio Cervical Pain). She is also a member of I.C.C.M.O. (The International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics)

Dentistry today is very exciting because of all the technological advances that can help doctors get more predictable and better results. Dr. Heit has an ICAT imaging system www.goodxrays.com that enables her to see your head and neck in many different views and slices as well as in 3 dimensional images. This greatly enhances her ability to diagnose and treatment plan even the most complex cases-especially related to the temporomandibular joint.
The ICAT raw data is used with special software www.codiagnostix.com that enables Dr. Heit to virtually place your implant in the most ideal position to optimize the cosmetic result and functional loading of the implant into your bite. This is done before the surgical procedure and a 3-D result is obtained before the surgery is done.
Dr. Heit's main concern is your bite and jaw joints. The neuromuscular approach to dental care involves a thorough assessment of the whole head and neck including all the muscles, posture, bones, joints and airway. Dr. Heit uses a K-7 computer system www.myotronics.com that objectively analyses the EMGs, sonography of the joints and jaw tracking-functional studies-of how you chew.
